BOUS News!

From BOUS to race directors. Big news for 2010: All six top athletes at your race will receive an automatic invitation to the National Championship.

Your first place man and woman will still race in the exclusive Champions Wave, going out together, head to head. New this year, they’ll be followed by Wave 2 – those who qualified in 2nd and 3rd place.

All athletes will race for overall individual awards. Plus, we’ve added Fastest Women’s State Team and Fastest Men’s State Team to the overall Fastest Coed State Team to create more opportunities for awards. We’re particularly excited about this part, and think it will add a fun new competitive dimension.

Each year, the enthusiasm of the 2nd and 3rd place finishers expressed for being able to attend has really grown, and last year was pretty overwhelming. We’re hoping this is a popular addition to the program, and that it will reinforce the draw of top talent to your Qualifier.

With the Champions Wave format, we think we’ve maintained the value and prestige of finishing first at the state Qualifier—the honor of being best on the right day at the right race, while opening the experience up to more capable triathletes and creating even more enthusiasm.

Passdown policies are still in effect, so in the event 1st place can’t attend, 2nd will be offered the Champions Wave slot.
